These are some of my most favourite butt exercises…when you do them correctly you can really feel the burn right where your back jean pocket would be. These exercises will work two of your butt muscles, gluteus medius and gluteus minimus, which are located underneath the main large muscle gluteus maximus. Glute med and min are often overlooked and underused but are actually very important for alignment and stability in the hip/knee, especially in activities such as running. These exercises are awesome just in general, but if you are a runner and/or have had ITB (iliotibial band) problems or knee pain, you can definitely give them a try. [Consult your health care professional (e.g. physiotherapist, physician) if your pain is not resolving].

Below is a video to guide you through the butt workout! Again I have used the tabata timer, so this could be one round of tabata if you are doing a tabata workout! Otherwise, on it’s own it’s a great quick butt workout that you could do when you have 5 minutes of free time. Moms – this is a good one while you’re on the floor playing with the kids!
